Topics of discussion will include the German Fach system of voice classification, basic principles of vocal production, how to prepare a vocal score, range vs tessitura, understanding register shifts, extended techniques, vocal melodic textures and instrument pairings. We will also explore more esoteric themes, such as how to choose text, ways to start a productive dialogue with your vocal collaborator, and the thrills and spills of working with a “diva” personality. |
